Compliance software is not just certification software
Ask most people working at a startup or small business what compliance software is for,
and the answer is usually the same: getting certified. ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS, or some
kind of GDPR badge. Something that comes with a certificate.
Certification matters. But compliance and GRC software in general is supposed to be
much bigger than that.
Many regulations have no certification program
There are many regulations and frameworks on the national, regional, and global level, and
on top of that, industry-specific ones. A lot of them don't have any certification program
around them. Think of NIS2 or DORA in the EU, Singapore's PDPA, Indonesia's PDP Law,
the MAS TRM Guidelines for financial institutions, or NIST CSF.
Organizations are still expected to prove how they comply. Maybe a regulator wants to
see the proof. Maybe the industry association does. Or maybe it's simply good practice to
be able to show it, without going down the typical certification path.
Compliance comes first
That's why FEHA GRC has been built for compliance since day one. Not just certification.
For FEHA, companies first and foremost need to comply with regulations. That's
mandatory. Certification is nice to have, depending on what customers ask for or what a
specific regulator demands. And since there are a lot more regulations and frameworks
without a certification program than with one, compliance should come first.
In the end, compliance is about how a business manages its risks, guided by good
practices in the form of frameworks and regulations. It's about business benefits and
business resilience. Much bigger than just a certificate.
Getting it right over getting it fast
Most compliance and GRC software on the market right now focuses on certification.
FEHA GRC is playing the long game.
From day one, the focus was never on how fast and easy people can get certified. It was
on getting things right. Of course it's faster than doing everything manually, but
correctness and accuracy are the number one priority.
That's why FEHA has never told any company it can get them compliant with a regulation
or framework in X days or X weeks, and never will.
The speed always depends on how complex the organization is and how proactive the
team is. Because, like it or not, everything requires work. Companies that understand this
also know they can't leave everything to a consultant or a tool. They have to put in the
effort themselves.
A partner for the long run
To be clear, FEHA GRC does help companies gain certification and maintain it. That
capability is there.
But the bigger goal is to be a partner for the long run. FEHA GRC is built to help
companies, especially those dealing with multiple regulations and frameworks, show
compliance against all of them and stay compliant on a day-to-day basis.
Curious what that could look like for your organization? The FEHA team is always up for a
chat.
